Face-to-face is a traditional appointment with your provider. You make an appointment, come in to the clinic, go to the exam room and meet with your provider. This has been the standard for health and wellness visits for a long time. Telemedicine and virtual visits were going to be options sometime in the future. “The COVID-19 pandemic brought alternative ways of receiving health care forward by 10 years,” says Linda Walker, VVRMC’s CEO. Everything got fast-forwarded so patients could receive health care without any risk of getting COVID-19. With telemedicine, you can visit with your health care provider by phone. Using specialized kits provided by the RHC, you can submit your blood pressure, oxygen level, blood glucose numbers and more to your provider, then discuss the results by phone. Your provider has your health information in front of them and can make any changes to your care or medication by phone and email. If you choose a virtual health visit, you get to see your provider. It’s like a Zoom meeting, except it’s just you and your provider using laptops or desktop computers. Again, using specialized kits, you can provide your health numbers for consideration.
