Meet Angela Moriarty, our new COO V AL VERDE REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER’S (VVRMC) new chief operating officer (COO) is an Air Force veteran with many years of health care administration experience. Angela Moriarty joined VVRMC in June. As COO, Moriarty’s job is to make sure that all departments are working together to meet the mission of the hospital. She reports to Chief Executive Officer Linda Walker. “Looking for opportunities to improve the way in which we deliver health care is also part of my role,” she says. Moriarty relocated to Del Rio with her husband, Capt. Paul Moriarty, a pilot instructor at Laughlin Air Force Base. Prior to that, the couple lived at Ramstein Air Base in Germany. Originally from Hot Springs, Arkansas, Moriarty served in the Air Force for 23 years as a medical services corps officer. She retired in 2015 after obtaining the rank of major. Moriarty has held various health care positions in both military and civilian settings. Her health care experience runs the range from finance to information technology. She has managed clinics and worked in large hospitals. Moriarty and her husband have two sons, Liam and Jacob, ages 4 and 16; and a daughter, Jourdan, 24. The couple met while both were in the military, stationed in Honduras. In their spare time, they enjoy traveling and spending time outdoors, especially hiking, biking and kayaking. “I’ve got it on my bucket list to go out to Big Bend National Park,” she says. 4 Keeping Well/Mantenerse Sano Hospital news/Noticias del hospital Angela Moriarty, COO Conozca a Angela Moriarty, nuestra nueva COO L A NUEVA DIRECTORA de operaciones (COO, por sus siglas en inglés) de Val Verde Regional Medical Center (VVRMC) es veterana de la Fuerza Aérea con muchos años de experiencia en la administración de la atención médica. Angela Moriarty se incorporó a VVRMC en el mes de junio. Como COO, el trabajo de Moriarty es asegurarse de que todos los departamentos trabajen juntos para cumplir con la misión del hospital. Moriarty se trasladó a Del Rio con su esposo, el Capitán Paul Moriarty, instructor de pilotos en la Base de la Fuerza Aérea de Laughlin. Antes de eso, la pareja vivía en la Base Aérea de Ramstein en Alemania. Originaria de Hot Springs, Arkansas, Moriarty prestó servicio en la Fuerza Aérea durante 23 años como oficial del cuerpo de servicios médicos. Se jubiló en 2015 tras obtener el rango de comandante. Moriarty ha ocupado diversos puestos relacionados con la atención médica tanto en entornos militares como civiles. Moriarty y su esposo tienen dos hijos, Liam y Jacob, de 4 y 16 años; y una hija, Jourdan, de 24 años. La pareja se conoció cuando ambos estaban en las fuerzas armadas, apostados en Honduras. En su tiempo libre, disfrutan de viajar y pasar tiempo al aire libre, especialmente practicar senderismo, ciclismo y canotaje. “Ir al Parque Nacional Big Bend está en mi lista de cosas para hacer antes de morir”, dice.
