Emergency air transport for Val Verde County

residents are covered at no charge

Methodist AirCare has been serving Val Verde

Regional Medical Center (VVRMC) since early 2016.

The lifesaving flights from our local hospital to other

health care facilities have saved lives.

In an unprecedented collaboration of four entities

(VVRMC, City of Del Rio, Val Verde County and San

Felipe Del Rio Consolidated Independent School

District), every resident of Val Verde County has free

coverage for emergency air transport.

“This is a big step in progressive medicine for Val

Verde Regional Medical Center and our community,”

says Xochy Hurtado, CEO of VVRMC.

All the helicopters are equipped with highly trained

personnel equipped to keep critically ill people stable

during transport. A helicopter is stationed next to the

hospital 24/7, and the service was provided at no

cost to VVRMC.

There are no mandated facility restrictions. Each

patient is transported to the nearest trauma center

that can help them.
