Medical Center es la unidad, definida de la siguiente
manera: “Promovemos un ambiente que se
caracteriza por la comunicación abierta, la diversidad y el
respeto mutuo, siempre”.
En el espíritu de la “com-unidad” regional, el Grupo asesor
de empleados (EAG, por sus siglas en inglés) del hospital
se ha asociado con Casa de la Cultura y Southwest Texas
Community College para pintar un mural en un patio externo
del hospital.
“Los empleados realmente querían contar con un espacio
al aire libre”, cuenta el Presidente del EAG Sovi Villalobos.
“Este patio solía ser un área de fumadores. Necesita un poco
de limpieza e iluminación para que sea un gran espacio para
los descansos al aire libre. Como empleados, pasamos mucho
tiempo adentro, y el aire fresco nos hará bien”.
EXPRESIÓN ARTÍSTICA
Para iluminar el área, el EAG pensó que los murales serían
una gran idea. Por eso se asociaron con Casa de la Cultura
y Southwest Community College Creative Arts Club para
hacerlo realidad.
Casa de la Cultura ha pintado murales en el área desde
los años 80. Cualquiera que haya caminado por el arroyo San
Felipe en Del Rio probablemente haya visto algo de su trabajo.
Los murales son vívidos, coloridos y con un significado para
las personas de la región. La colaboración tendrá beneficios
para todos los involucrados, incluidos los estudiantes de arte.
Están entusiasmados con la participación en el proyecto que
representa la voz creativa de los artistas del área.

In the spirit of regional “comm-unity,” the hospital’s
Employee Advisory Group (EAG) has partnered with
Casa de la Cultura and Southwest Texas Community
College to paint a mural in an outdoor courtyard of the
hospital.
“The employees really wanted an outdoor space
available to them,” says EAG President Sovi Villalobos.
“This courtyard used to be a
smoking area. It needs some
cleanup and brightening to
make it a great area for outdoor
breaks. We spend way too
much time inside as employees,
and the fresh air will do us
good.”
ARTISTIC EXPRESSION
To brighten the area, the EAG
thought murals would be a
great idea. So they partnered with Casa de la Cultura and
the Southwest Community College Creative Arts Club to
make it happen.
Casa de la Cultura has been painting murals in the
area since the 1980s. Anyone who has walked along San
Felipe Creek in Del Rio has likely seen some of their
work. The murals are bright, colorful and meaningful
to people from the region. The collaboration will be
beneficial for all involved, including the art students.
They are enthusiastic about participating in the project
representing the creative voice of artists in the area.
